Class Reunion

I am having my 30th class reunion this weekend. That sounds so strange. I can't believe I have been out of high school 30 years. I feel like I should be about 25 instead of approaching 50. Where does the time go? I can't wait to see how everyone has "held up" over the last 3o years. I will post an update after the celebration. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend.

Quilting Changes

I enjoyed looking at the pictures on TEVA. I 'm sure this quilt is being made out of necessity, preparing for those cold winter nights.
Quilting has certainly come a long way. In this picture, small squares of cotton batting are being place on the quilt backing. Today we buy the batting in the size we need and it is in one continuous sheet. My how things have changed.

Vacationing in Florida

My husband and I are trying to decide where in Florida to take our vacation. I still have not gotten use to it just being the two of us. I would like to go to Destin or Gulf Shores. It would be wonderful to just lay on the beach and read a book. I don't think my better half will go for that. He's not a beach kinda guy. Maybe I'll get to have at least one day laying on the beach.

A Favorite Book of Mine

I work at the Reelfoot Regional Library and have been here for almost 5 years. Before I began working here, I read all the time. Since my arrival at the library, I just can't seem to find the time to read.

Several weeks ago, I was processing a book that caught my attention. The title is The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls. This is a non-fiction book about her childhood. I think I enjoyed reading this book more than any I have ever read. It is amazing to me how resilent children actually are and that these children survived in spite of their parents. It was wonderfully written, easy to read, and a definite page turner as I neared the end. If you enjoy reading, please add this book to your list of "must reads".
